Magento Acquires Technology Behind Bluefoot CMS & Page Builder

Today we are excited to announce that Magento has acquired the technology behind the popular Bluefoot CMS & Page Builder module for Magento.

Bluefoot has enjoyed rapid adoption and endorsements from the Magento ecosystem since its initial release at Imagine earlier in the year. After exhaustive conversations with both merchants and solution partners we felt it was critical to make this technology a core part of the Magento platform. CMS and page builder capabilities have long been at the top of our roadmap priorities and have been highly requested from our ecosystem and merchants. As part of our investment strategy laid out by Mark Lavelle, we continue to pursue acquisitions of innovative technologies that allow us to accelerate the delivery of our roadmap.

We believe that the integration of Bluefoot CMS into the core of Magento will empower Magento merchants to exert greater control and creativity over the digital experiences they deliver to their customers by providing a powerful set of tools to help them create and manage content and site layout of their Magento store, everything from product descriptions through to blogs. When fully integrated into Magento, Bluefoot CMS will provide exciting new capabilities that will empower our merchants to control the end-to-end experience of their site with:

Headers, images, products, maps and much more can easily be added as content using drag and drop functionality.

Simple drag and drop of products or groups of products into standard content elements, like blog posts or promotion pages to facilitate merchandising.

YouTube / Vimeo videos, Google Maps and more are all integrated making it easy to add rich content to pages, categories and posts.

Seamless integration of static blocks into your content ensuring that areas of the site such as categories can be turned into any design you like.

"We are delighted that Magento has chosen BlueFoot to be part of their CMS vision. BlueFoot was created to give Magento merchants an easy-to-use and powerful tool to manage their content and with Magento's determination and commitment to delivering the very best in eCommerce solutions our hope is that now all Magento merchants will be able to benefit from this technology," said Matt Parkinson, CEO, Gene Commerce.

Magento will be providing more details on the integration roadmap in Q1 2017. In the meantime, the current version of Bluefoot CMS (v1.0) will be available exclusively for licensed Magento Enterprise Edition or Enterprise Cloud Edition merchants with Magento version 2.1 and up. Merchants can obtain the extension through their CDM or Account Manager.
