Established company in its fourth generation
Started in 1906 as a textile service provider, the SCHMIDT GROUP has expanded beyond textiles into bags, accessories, shoes, and clothing. With brands such as Chiemsee and Kappa, the fourth-generation family-owned company maintains a strong position in the German market. In the past several years, the company has expanded its services to include logistics and IT capabilities, allowing it to become a system supplier for the entire supply chain.
A central solution for all brands
While brick-and-mortar retail stores are still important, the online shops for each of the seven SCHMIDT GROUP brands have become a core part of the business strategy. Previously, each fashion brand used online shops built on different platforms. Over the years, these online shops diverged, giving each brand a completely different look. When online sales became the main revenue source during the pandemic, SCHMIDT GROUP saw an opportunity to reorganize the sites and rebuild from the ground up.
With Adobe Commerce, the SCHMIDT GROUP now has a central commerce application that serves as a foundation to create and control all online shops for all of its brands.
Today, companies in every industry face enormous competitive pressure. Especially online, the competition is always just a click away. The fashion industry faces additional challenges such as the disruption of fast fashion and growing customer demands to have items delivered to their homes quickly. Using flexible APIs, the SCHMIDT GROUP can seamlessly integrate two of its key internal systems with Adobe Commerce to automate processes and improve management.
The company can now automate order management by routing orders from Adobe Commerce to the in-house enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. The logistics department immediately receives the necessary information to deliver the goods as quickly as possible. The company also uses integrations with the product information management (PIM) system to automatically update product data so that warehouse teams know when to place repeat orders.
A new look for content creation
For this family business, the only time fashion should be fast is when looking at delivery times. The SCHMIDT GROUP places great importance on sustainability and the use of certified, environmentally friendly fabrics. As a result, the company aims to communicate these values clearly on the online shops for all brands.
With the Page Builder function in Adobe Commerce, each brand’s content team can build upon the company’s strong foundations but still build a custom online shop made for the brand. With features like drag-and-drop content creation, teams can update content quickly and easily, without needing assistance from web developers. In addition, integrated customer segmentation tools allow the teams to create tailor-made content for target groups, such as offering personalized product recommendations.

Whatever styles the future may bring, the SCHMIDT GROUP is prepared to stay one step ahead of the trend.
