Simplifying complex transactions

Fintech, proptech, retail, manufacturing, and media businesses worldwide use Tavant software to improve the speed and accuracy of customer transactions  from streamlining warranty claims procedures for manufactured goods to expediting traditionally siloed mortgage application processes.

Tavant enables these efficiencies through an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered collaboration platform that benefits everyone involved in a complex business transaction. For example, the borrowers, loan officers, brokers, real estate agents, and financial advisers dealing with a residential loan can use the Tavant platform to take part in the process, from application processing to underwriting, approval, and completion.

For customers, the faster, easier transactions significantly ease the stress of what are often the largest financial investments of their lifetimes, which in turn strengthens their satisfaction and loyalty to the institutions involved.

“Our commercial success is due to our reputation for technical excellence and expertise in harnessing artificial intelligence and machine learning for different industry applications,” explains Sujatha Das, Senior Director, Human Resources and Global Head, Learning and Organization Development, Tavant. “And that is driven by the skills and knowledge of our people.”

Putting staff development first

Tavant has long taken pride in its worldwide staff training program, which provides learning and development opportunities to over 2,200 employees. From personnel at its global headquarters in Santa Clara, California and technical, R&D, and delivery facilities across India to its sales and support offices throughout the world, Tavant has always prioritized employees’ professional growth.

Historically, most of the company’s training courses were conducted in person. Das explains: “The majority of our employees are based in India where classroom teaching tends to be favored over e-learning, and that culture influenced our approach elsewhere.”

However, when it became clear a new educational strategy was needed to support the increasing globalization of the business – and in particular, the requirement for consistent training for team members  Das and her team began searching for a new learning management system (LMS).

“Our previous learning platform was custom-built and required a lot of development to maintain and upgrade, which wasn’t sustainable,” explains Das. “We needed a more modern solution that could host a range of digital content and support our blended learning strategy.”

A shift toward e-learning

To implement its vision, the Learning and Organization Development team evaluated several LMS options, including Adobe Captivate Prime. Das had previously used Adobe Captivate Prime and was impressed by its scalability and ease of use, as well as Adobe’s responsive customer service team.

“Having had an exceptional experience with Adobe Captivate Prime, I didn’t hesitate to recommend it to my colleagues,” recalls Das.

After shortlisting and trialing Adobe Captivate Prime for six months, Das’ team members agreed with her assessment, giving the platform high scores for its intuitive design and easy navigation, gamification and social learning features, and embedded Fluidic Player, which provides the capability to play interactive content. “During the trial, we kept discovering new features that could provide us with even more value,” explains Das. “We all concluded that Adobe Captivate Prime was right for our business.”

“We quickly transformed into an organization in which employees – rather than reacting to learning opportunities – are inspired to explore the training calendar, browse curricula options, and pursue courses based on their professional goals. That’s a significant cultural shift, and much credit goes to Adobe Captivate Prime.”

Accelerating transition to e-learning

Soon after Adobe Captivate Prime was adopted, the COVID-19 pandemic struck and most employees began working from home. “The timing of rolling out Adobe Captivate Prime gave us an unexpected advantage. It enabled us to shift to virtual learning almost overnight and continue supporting our employees’ skills development.”

The Learning and Organization Development team began to convert longstanding, in-person courses in areas such as leadership, technical skills, and soft skills for online courses. In addition, they identified complimentary digital courses from Microsoft, Udemy, and YouTube and added them to the curriculum. These offerings were subsequently launched to employees worldwide via Adobe Captivate Prime as the Tavant Learning Academy.

Meanwhile, 30, 60, and 90-day orientation and compliance modules were created for new employees along with upskilling and re-skilling courses for lateral hires. Through these courses, employees could immerse themselves in topics such as Java or Python or gain specific technical or domain expertise for upcoming projects. Role-based training was also introduced, such as communications skills for managers and leadership training for those advancing to executive level. Finally, informal knowledge sharing was added – for example, personal observations and learnings from customer projects.

The Tavant Learning Academy curriculum was developed with the support and guidance of two internal forums: the Learning Council, which provides input from senior leadership based on the company’s strategic direction, market trends and forecasts, and emerging customer requirements; and Learning Champions – members of the Learning and Organization Development who regularly meet with staff at all levels to solicit feedback on training and discuss the courses they might need in the future.

Strengthening visibility and control

From an administrative standpoint, the Learning and Organization Development team now has full, real-time visibility of every employee’s education plans, course completion history, scores, and certificates through Adobe Captivate Prime, along with the capability to print and share detailed reports with stakeholders. Similarly, line managers can log onto the platform to view training data for their direct reports anytime, anywhere.

“With our previous LMS, we constantly had to check with employees if they had completed their courses, resulting in a lot of back and forth,” explains Das. “But with Adobe Captivate Prime, everything we need to efficiently manage the academy is at our fingertips.”

Das says she initially wondered if Tavant employees would accept virtual learning given their predisposition for classroom courses, and was pleased by the enthusiastic reception.

“We quickly transformed into an organization in which employees  rather than reacting to learning opportunities  are inspired to explore the training calendar, browse curricula options, and pursue courses based on their professional goals,” says Das. “That’s a significant cultural shift, and much credit goes to Adobe Captivate Prime.”

“Growth has to come from within. Our high-level goal is for employees to own their learning and development paths, and for us to play the role of facilitator. With Adobe Captivate Prime, we’re on our way to achieving that vision.”

Impact across the business

Today, Tavant enjoys a near 100% engagement rate with its digital curriculum. “I’m proud that almost all of our employees actively use Adobe Captivate Prime, as are many of our contractors and third-party partners,” says Das.

And, whereas approximately 80% of courses were previously taught in-person, 114 digital courses have now been hosted on Adobe Captivate Prime, giving Das the balanced blended-learning mix she envisioned.

Another area that benefits from Adobe Captivate Prime is compliance. Since introducing the platform, staff training compliance rates have increased from 11% to 100% due to the increased visibility and control the Learning and Organization Development team have over employees’ learning plans.

“Adobe Captivate Prime takes learning to a new level,” says Anil Kumar Puthumana, Global Head of Human Resources, Tavant. “We’ve seen a massive uptake of self-paced courses and demand for content that supports employee goals. Moreover, the visibility we get from the Adobe platform has helped us improve the offering to the extent it’s become a competitive differentiator for the company.”

Looking toward the future

Das plans to add more social learning elements to academy courses, including building communities with shared interests, launching study groups, and enabling employees to post insightful content, such as technical articles, podcasts, and even self-produced videos on personal learnings.

Adobe Captivate Prime is perfect for crowd-sourced learning,” says Das. “Learning from your peers can be very powerful, and the Adobe platform gives us the capability to do that across geographies.”

In addition to social learning, Das plans to add gamification to upcoming courses using the embedded Fluidic Player in Adobe Captivate Prime, with the goal of increasing engagement and information retention. She also plans to leverage the platform’s mobile learning capabilities once the COVID-19 pandemic eases and people are allowed to travel.

“Growth has to come from within,” reflects Das. “Our high-level goal is for employees to own their learning and development paths, and for us to play the role of facilitator. With Adobe Captivate Prime, we’re on our way to achieving that vision.”
