Adobe Commerce announces advanced BOPIS capabilities
With increasing customer demand for advanced omnichannel fulfillment options and flexibility, offering buy online pick up in store (BOPIS) to customers has become crucial for retailers. BOPIS allows customers to purchase online and pick up their order at a physical store location that is convenient for them. This type of omnichannel fulfillment is far from new, with retailers having invested heavily over the last half-decade in both BOPIS and curbside pickup.
BOPIS fulfillment sales revenue more than doubled in 2020 in the US, according to eMarketer. Researchers expect double-digit growth rates in BOPIS revenue through 2024. Customer demand for this type of omnichannel fulfillment continues to grow, with MarketScale estimating BOPIS sales will grow to $141 billion by 2024.
The Adobe Commerce team is excited to announce the US availability of Store Fulfillment for Adobe Commerce by Walmart Commerce Technologies. Available now, Store Fulfillment is an advanced omnichannel fulfillment solution that lets retailers deliver a seamless end-to-end BOPIS experience through mobile devices. Channel Manager for Adobe Commerce
Channel Manager is a free extension created by Adobe to help US-based merchants increase their sales, reach new customers, streamline their operations, and save valuable time by integrating their online catalog, inventory, pricing, and orders to the Walmart Marketplace — the second largest marketplace nationwide. Marketplace transaction fees may apply after setup.
Designed to work seamlessly out of the box with Adobe Commerce or Magento Open Source, Channel Manager for Adobe Commerce offers the following features:
- Listing management (item matching): A merchant can match products easily from their Adobe Commerce catalog to existing Walmart.com listings.
- Inventory management: Items in the merchant's marketplace seller account are synced and updated automatically from Adobe Commerce to help ensure accurate inventory levels.
- Pricing updates: Merchants benefit from automatic price syncing. When a price changes in Adobe Commerce, the changes are also reflected in the marketplace.
Order management: When new orders are created in the marketplace, Channel Manager synchronizes orders with Adobe Commerce and sends order acknowledgments to the marketplace to ensure inventory is reserved for each order.
Shipping management: When orders are marked as shipped in Adobe Commerce, the shipment update is sent to the marketplace to help ensure merchants meet their fulfillment SLA requirements and customers are notified.
- Cancellations: When orders are canceled in Adobe Commerce, Channel Manager will send this information to the marketplace so the same action can be replicated on their side.
API Mesh for Adobe Developer App Builder (beta program)
Adobe is pleased to announce the beta program for API Mesh with Adobe Commerce. The API Mesh helps customers easily bring together multiple sources of data and microservices from across their organization into a single unified layer. Customers can integrate API for content, assets, search, shipping, inventory, and other applications with their commerce API to deliver rich experiences to shoppers.
For developers, adding API and data sources to the API Mesh can be done through simple configurations. Additionally, the API Mesh helps developers monitor, secure, and scale their API globally while providing API extensibility in a low-code or no-code environment.
The API Mesh helps with reducing both time to value as well as the cost of ownership for integrations. Adobe Commerce customers deploying multiple integrations or extensions that are interested in participating in the Beta program for the API Mesh can apply here.

Readiness indicators for Product Recommendations
Product Recommendations will soon have indicators to inform merchants when each of the different recommendation types are ready to use. This helps remove the guesswork from when a recommendation unit has enough data to be deployed so merchants can see immediate results. This feature will be released shortly after our June 21 release date. Check the release notes for updated information.
