2024 has shown early growth and the momentum is poised to continue through the summer. Consumers spent $84.3 billion dollars online in July, up 8.1% year over year. Top-line spending growth has been driven by growing categories like grocery, apparel, and cosmetics. Year to date, consumers have spent over $587.1 billion dollars online.

Mobile revenue share surpassed desktop share for the first time during the 2023 holiday season, when mobile hit 51%. Mobile revenue share hit its peak on Christmas Day 2023 at 61% of revenue. The momentum is expected to continue in 2024. So far this year, mobile spend is $280 billion dollars.

The impact of buy now, pay later solutions.

Consumers continue turning to buy now, pay later (BNPL) options with BNPL online spending seeing continued growth this year. So far, $46.3 billion dollars have been spent through BNPL services. This is up 11.8% from the same period in 2023. In July, consumers spent $6.69 billion dollars through BNPL, up 9.7% year over year.
