We examined what images Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X and Baby Boomers like to generate based on user prompts and found:

Boomers look to AI to generate holiday images.

We looked at how often users from different generations include major holidays — such as Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Christmas — and found that, the older the generation, the more likely they are to include these holidays.

And while they aren’t included in these calculations, the same held true when we included additional holiday-themed words — such as including “egg” and “bunny” in prompts around Easter.

Overall, Baby Boomers are 3x more likely to generate a holiday-related image than Gen Z. While the pattern holds true across holidays, the magnitude varies. Thanksgiving is the most Boomer-skewed. Boomers generate 3.9x more prompts including the word “Thanksgiving” than Gen Z users. The holiday with the least spread is Valentine’s Day.

We also examined how sports prompting differed by generation, looking at how often popular sports — including basketball, baseball, football, football, hockey and the Olympics — were prompted. We found that the middle generations, Gen X and Millennials, were most likely to generate images based on these sports.

When we look at individual sports, we can see more generational differences. For example — basketball is most popular among Millennials and least popular among Boomers. Baseball, on the other hand, is most popular with the older generations, Boomers and Gen X, for whom it is the most popular sport. Meanwhile, it’s not nearly as popular with Gen Z.

Football is more universal. While it is less popular with Boomers, it's pretty much equally popular among the three younger generations — and is the most popular sport for both Millennials and Gen Z.
