Expanded support for Adobe Commerce to meet growing mission-critical customer needs

We are excited to announce changes to our support policy and release cadence that will help customers maximize the value they receive from Adobe Commerce, enhance security, and innovate faster. Changes include a longer software support period, more frequent security updates, and easier access to new features delivered as composable SaaS services.

Expanding Adobe Commerce support

To meet the mission-critical needs of our customers, we are expanding support to provide quality and security patches for three years, starting from the general availability date. The new support term applies to Adobe Commerce 2.4.4 and later releases, as shown in the chart below. For example, version 2.4.5, which was released in August 2022, will receive quality and security support until August 2025. The longer support window recognizes the complexity our customers face operating multiple sites around the globe and enables them to get more value from each deployment. It also frees up resources to focus on adding new functionality or customizing the buying experience to drive faster growth. Beyond the core application, Adobe currently provides PHP support for the same three-year term, giving customers greater control over the timing of their upgrades. More information is available in our revised Adobe Commerce Software Lifecycle Policy.

Accelerating innovation and enhancing security

The updated Commerce release cadence provides faster access to new features while enhancing security and making upgrades easier. New functionality is delivered as composable SaaS services that can be adopted at any time without having to upgrade the core commerce application. Composable services like Product Recommendations, Live Search, Payment Services, and Channel Manager provide customers with new tools that can have an immediate impact on sales. And these services can be continually updated by Adobe to deliver the latest advances in functionality and performance.

Starting this year, we are also changing the frequency of security and core application patch releases. The number of planned security patches is increasing from three to four to help customers stay more secure. These patches are lightweight and easy to apply. We are also moving to one core application patch per year. With more time between core patch releases, upgrade costs are lower, planning is easier, and customers can put more focus on optimizing their commerce experiences. Additional beta releases for the 2024 core application patch (2.4.7) will also be made available this year to help partners and customers prepare for the next release. Check out the Adobe Commerce 2023 release schedule for more details.

With an expanded support window, more frequent security updates, new features delivered as composable services, and annual core application updates, Adobe Commerce is helping customers accelerate their pace of innovation. We hope you are as excited about these new policies as we are.
