What analysts are saying.

IDC

“Adobe has been a firehose of innovation bringing generative AI solutions to commercial content creation. Adobe, more than any other marketing or GenAI provider, anticipated and solved the most pressing issues that make public GenAI content creation tools nonstarters for major brands.”

Gerry Murray, IDC, December 2024

Forrester

“Adobe has been incredibly successful thus far. It very much painted a vision for the future with developing a commercially viable service for generative AI.”

Jay Pattisall, Forrester, March 2024

Constellation Research

“Adobe Firefly brings a governed, predictable and secure GenAI to the unpredictable world of GenAI applications. Adobe has done a lot of work in ethical AI, responsible AI and the ability to provide a transparent and validated approach to content provenance.”

Andy Thurai, Vice President and Principal Analyst, Constellation Research Inc., September 2024

Questions? We have answers.

What is Adobe Firefly?

Firefly is the family of creative generative AI models powering Adobe products. Firefly offers new ways to ideate, create and communicate while significantly improving creative workflows. It’s the natural extension of the technology Adobe has produced over the past 40 years, driven by the belief that people should be empowered to bring their ideas into the world precisely as they imagine them.

What principles guide Adobe’s responsible AI approach for Firefly in business?

Firefly uses commercially-safe datasets, including licensed and public domain content where copyright has expired and does not train on customer data. Additionally, as a founding collaborator of the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), Adobe is setting the industry standard for responsible generative AI. The CAI is a community of media and tech companies, NGOs, academics and others working to promote adoption of an open industry standard for content authenticity and provenance. Enterprise users can enforce brand safety by deploying Firefly Custom Models trained on approved assets and Firefly also supports Content Credentials, which attach origin and editing metadata to every AI-generated file for transparency and review.

What role can Firefly play in a business’s AI adoption strategy?

Firefly offers a scalable, secure entry point into generative AI for creative operations. It supports rapid content creation, personalisation and localisation while respecting brand and legal requirements. Firefly can be integrated into a broader content supply chain strategy, enabling businesses to operationalise AI while maintaining control, compliance and consistency.

How does Firefly align with evolving global AI governance frameworks, regulatory standards and industry best practices?

Firefly is built around Adobe’s Generative AI User Guidelines and governance frameworks, incorporating industry-aligned features — like opt-out controls, transparency via Content Credentials and alignment with policy initiatives like Content Authenticity.

Where does Firefly get its data from?

The current Firefly generative AI models were trained on licensed content, such as Adobe Stock, along with public domain content where copyright has expired.

Adobe offers Customised Models, which are ways for creators to train the models with their own assets, so they can generate content that matches their unique style, branding and design language without the influence of other creators’ content.

Adobe will continue to listen to and work with the creative community to address future developments to the Firefly training models.

Is customer content automatically used to train Firefly?

No. We do not train our Firefly generative AI models on any Creative Cloud or Adobe Experience Cloud subscribers’ personal content.

Is Firefly integrated into Adobe apps?

We’re continually working on bringing Firefly into Creative Cloud, Experience Cloud and Adobe Document Cloud. Features powered by Firefly can currently be found inside Adobe Express, Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Stock and firefly.adobe.com

How can my organisation try out the Firefly web app?

Using your Adobe ID or federated ID, you can access the Firefly web app to experiment with all the different available capabilities.

Can customers use the images generated from Firefly commercially?

For features without the beta label, you can use outputs generated from Firefly in your commercial projects. For features that are in beta, you can use the outputs generated from Firefly for your commercial projects unless explicitly stated otherwise in the product.

As with the use of all Creative Cloud products and services, Firefly outputs cannot be used in an illegal manner (including to infringe or violate the rights of others) or in connection with creating, training or otherwise improving AI and machine learning models. Will Adobe indemnify enterprise customers in the unlikely event of an IP claim involving a Firefly output?

Yes, if the organisation has purchased the appropriate entitlement, which will require a new contracting event, subject to the applicable terms, conditions and exclusions. Learn more | Learn more about Firefly for Enterprise Customers

Which enterprise plans will offer IP indemnity for select Firefly outputs?

Enterprise customers may purchase an entitlement that comes with contractual IP indemnification for select Firefly outputs through the Adobe Express and Firefly site licence or through certain Creative Cloud for enterprise plans. Contact us to learn more.
