The Lion Awards celebrate the most innovative and driven work management pioneers among our customers—individuals and organizations transforming the way work gets done while achieving positive, measurable results.

Because the global pandemic means we can’t congratulate our winners in person this year, we have been celebrating their achievements by revealing their accomplishments leading up to the Leap 2020 Virtual Conference on June 24. Today, we present a round-up of our winners and their outstanding achievements.

Our customers continue to raise the bar on what it means to be a trailblazer in enterprise work management. That’s why this year we evolved the Lion Award categories to recognize this new breed of customer and the remarkable impact they’re having on everything from employee experience to business outcomes.

Operational Excellence Award

This award recognizes customers who have created a high-performance culture to actively manage work and measure results against goals and utilization. Our winners are:

North America: Thermo Fisher Scientific

With Workfront, Thermo Fisher Scientific developed a new operating model to facilitate a more cohesive, communicative, and interactive experience—resulting in a truly successful team. Thermo Fisher has embraced its transition to Workfront for the real-time, reliable, intuitive, and on-demand experiences it brings.

Europe: BT

When it needed to combine two business units, BT chose Workfront to facilitate connections across teams, increase clarity of ROI, and enhance governance procedures. BT increased its understanding of all projects, complexity, and group interactions—helping it to effectively dedicate resources to meet new demand.

Technical Excellence Award

This award recognizes customers who have achieved work management excellence by deploying technology to optimize work processes to centralize content and data for both easy access and smarter decision making. Our winners are:

North America: Synchrony

Synchrony, a financial services company that manages nearly 19,000 projects a year, started using Workfront’s out-of-the-box functionality to provide a single view of work for siloed teams and then evolved their ecosystem by adding automation via APIs. As a result, the Synchrony team is now focusing on high-value work instead of administrative set-up.

Europe: Sky Betting & Gaming

As a company built on innovation and changing the game, SBG needed a flexible workflow solution that supported its mindset. With Workfront, SBG connects multiple tools and processes to support dynamic planning across departments while centralizing content and data to enable smarter decision-making and improved visibility throughout the business.

Sky Betting & Gaming won the European Technical Excellence Lion Award

Modern Work Leader Award

This award recognizes individuals who are agents of change and display excellence in leading work transformation. Our winners are:

North America: Nicole Keel, Senior Manager, Global Marketing Operations—Thermo Fisher Scientific

Nicole has shown exemplary leadership by implementing a new way of working that combines Agile and Workfront. Through this approach, Nicole has helped increase transparency and empower teams to continuously improve, which has resulted in a measurably enhanced experience for each team member.

Europe: Arjun Majumdar, Deals Manager—PwC

Arjun drove the adoption of Workfront through a successful pilot, weekly best practice sessions, and a quick reference guide—delivering a modernized workflow management system for PwC. Thanks to Arjun’s efforts, the PwC teams have visibility into and control over their work, which helps them access and organize their tasks more effectively.

Workfront Rising Star Award

This award recognizes individuals who have achieved significant results within their first year of implementation, and whose excellence in collaboration and ability to inspire is setting the pace for our rapidly changing world of work. Our winners are:

North America: Amber Dallapiazza, Senior Analyst, Process Improvement—The Home Depot

Amber is a founding member of the Workfront system process team at The Home Depot. She has demonstrated outstanding leadership and an ability to push forward to get issues solved and teams empowered. She has a passion for teaching and is an active member of the Workfront Community (Workfront One), sharing her knowledge with Workfront and its customers.

Amber Dallapiazza is the North American Rising Star Lion Award winner

Europe: Richard Farquhar, Head of Marketing Transformation—SSE

Richard helped drive the adoption of Workfront to centralize all marketing work at SSE, and ensure the highest levels of compliance. Thanks to his efforts, SSE saw an increase of more than 50% in speed to market, real-time progress reporting, improved visibility of processes, and dramatic performance improvements.

Strategic Achievement Award

This award recognizes customers who successfully leverage context and visibility to achieve excellence in organizational alignment of goals. Our winner is:

The Home Depot

The System Admin team has established Workfront as the system of record for its Creative Services team, while also successfully onboarding and overseeing other teams. They have established a Workfront governance hierarchy and set employees up for success. The Home Depot uses the right technology to get the right work done in a new digital era.

Organizational Agility Award

This award recognizes companies that display extraordinary organizational agility, with the ability to respond and adapt quickly to changing business needs. Our winner is:


When T-Mobile’s marketing department grew by nearly 200% in one year, the team leveraged Workfront to centralize and provide a single source of truth for all campaigns. Workfront is now T-Mobile’s marketing work management platform, with leadership also using the platform for campaign monitoring, capacity planning, and resourcing.

This award recognizes customers who are leaders in enterprise work management and demonstrate excellence in all categories. Our winner is:


The marketing transformation plan at Sage demonstrated excellence across all four Lion Award categories. With one work management solution, Sage teams now have easy and efficient access to assets and content through an integrated digital asset management system. Sage continues to focus on optimizing processes and integrating Workfront with its tech stack.
