"Adobe Learning Manager has helped us evolve learning and development from just training into a strategic engine for developing talent and scaling our business."

Training as a key to business expansion.

Behind every flight is a team of dedicated professionals ensuring every journey is safe, secure, and seamless. At more than 230 airports worldwide, Unifi delivers a full spectrum of aviation services, from ramp operations and baggage handling to aircraft cleaning, security, and customer care. As North America’s largest aviation services provider, Unifi supports over four million flights annually across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Ireland. Their work goes far beyond logistics; it’s about creating smooth connections and elevating experiences for travelers, partners, and team members alike. At Unifi's core is a clear purpose: elevating people, because every traveler, every team member, and every partner matters.

Vice President of Learning and Development, Andrea Ingerson, recognizes the impact that frontline workers can have on every flight. She started her aviation career as a ramp agent, and today she builds a culture where frontline workers earn the training and confidence that they need to improve every flight.

In the past several years, Unifi has grown dramatically through organic expansion and strategic acquisition, tripling revenue and more than doubling its workforce to serve more locations. Effective development is key to this growth. Every person working with airlines must meet rigorous requirements for safety, service, and efficiency. That’s why Unifi focuses on delivering comprehensive, high-quality training that equips employees to meet these standards confidently—so they can expand responsibly and maintain the trust of partners and passengers.

With business growing exponentially, Ingerson needed a learning management system (LMS) that could scale significantly to meet rising training demands and support workforce expansion. After thoroughly evaluating 25 LMS platforms, Unifi selected Adobe Learning Manager for its enterprise-grade scalability and its flexibility to deliver personalized learning experiences across more than 30 lines of service.

“The more efficiently we train, the more confidently we grow our business.”

Scaling to train learners across multiple countries.

With Adobe Learning Manager, Unifi now creates personalized learning plans for more than 40,000 employees depending on a person’s role and location. A ramp agent in a major airport like Atlanta needs different training than a security agent for a small regional airport. Airline carriers often require additional training for anyone working on their flights, and long-time employees must complete regular refresher courses to maintain their positions and certifications.

“In our world, training isn’t one-size-fits-all,” explains Ingerson. “Adobe Learning Manager allows us to create personalized learning plans to deliver relevant, consistent training to everyone.”

An intuitive design interface makes it simple for Ingerson and her team to automatically arrange courses into custom learning plans and assign them to all employees. A strong mobile experience also changes the game by allowing frontline workers to access content and complete training even when taking a break — no computer access required. Employees can check their progress anywhere, viewing lessons and completing quizzes to measure comprehension before moving along set learning paths.

“Adobe Learning Manager is easy for employees to use, even for frontline team members who typically spend less time working digitally,” says Ingerson. “We’ve seen a significant increase in learner engagement, with over 90% of people completing assigned pathways on time. That’s tens of thousands of completions every month with fewer escalations.”

Fast, consistent, and high-quality training drives business growth. Unifi now has the flexibility to rapidly prepare staff to launch new airport stations and onboard seasonal employees to keep up with high demand. “The more efficiently we train, the more confidently we grow our business,” says Ingerson.

“ISAGO compliance is essential to our growth. By maintaining the certification, we show airlines and airports that we meet the highest standards. Learner engagement has advanced significantly to over 90%. This translates to thousands of monthly completions, accompanied by a sharp reduction in LMS issues and escalations.”

Growing business globally by meeting certification standards.

The aviation industry has strict regulatory demands, and failure to meet those standards can subject the company to high monetary penalties. Adobe Learning Manager provides visibility into course completion, reducing the time the learning and development team spends tracking assignments by 80% and providing a solid audit trail for compliance.

Unifi now records all of its hybrid learning in Adobe Learning Manager: in-person and virtual training, self-paced digital learning, and on-the-job training. The learning and development team can compile this information into a simple report to demonstrate that employees meet standards such as IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO) certification.

“ISAGO compliance is essential to our growth. By maintaining the certification, we show airlines and airports that we meet the highest standards," says Ingerson. "Learner engagement has advanced significantly to over 90%. This translates to thousands of monthly completions, accompanied by a sharp reduction in LMS issues and escalations.”

Unifi also uses the records to demonstrate that its training meets or even exceeds demands from airline carriers. Typically, carriers will require that Unifi employees complete their own recommended training, which could be 40 extra hours of work. Using reports from Adobe Learning Manager to clarify exactly what employees are learning, Unifi has reduced mandatory carrier training to just 5.5 hours in some cases—an 86% reduction due to better tracking.

"By streamlining training with carriers, we’ve eliminated tens of thousands of unnecessary training hours across our workforce of more than 40,000 employees—delivering significant savings in both time and resources,” says Ingerson.

Encouraging 60% higher employee completion rates.

Unifi plans to put Adobe Learning Manager at the center of a culture of continuous learning and development. Badges boost motivation and encourage employees to complete courses, even going beyond mandatory lessons to improve overall skills and advance down career paths. Plans for gamified experiences such as points and leaderboards will encourage friendly peer-to-peer competition that will keep employees learning. Since the transition to Adobe Learning Manager, this encouragement along with the easy-to-use mobile interface has helped increase training completion rates by 60% and reduced the ramp up time for new hires.

For the over thirty members of the Learning and Development team, Adobe Learning Manager is simple to manage and update. Paired with  Adobe Experience Manager Sites, it streamlines content previews for partners and stakeholders, cutting approval and review cycles by more than 60%.

Training as a business strategy.

Ingerson plans to add even more functionality to Adobe Learning Manager in the future, such as expanding to at least five primary languages, with goals to include more, to support the global workforce and adding 3D or virtual reality training to provide a safe simulated environment for learning about complex parts.

“Safety is powered by training, and with Adobe Learning Manager we are building a training culture by design. This evolution has transformed learning into a strategic force for talent development and scalable growth,” says Ingerson.
